OFFICE SUPPORT

Volunteers in the field are the front line of our work; they're supported by others behind the scenes who keep the Region running smoothly. These support services offer excellent volunteering opportunities.

RSVP West Region is based in space rented from Bristol City Council at the CREATE Centre. This was built at the Cumberland Basin in 1908 as a bonded warehouse for storing tobacco. It was converted in 1994 in part into a centre design to promote environmental awareness and houses many voluntary organisations. The RSVP West office has computer, copier and other facilities for use by all RSVP members.

Management structure RSVP West employs no paid staff — its Management Group are all volunteers. The group is led by the Regional Coordinator and includes the organisers who coordinate the members who deliver all the front-line services. Some organisers work within a geographical area, others within subject areas such as schools, and yet others run individual projects. The Management Group meets quarterly. A smaller Regional Support Group that sets policy meets when required.

Information Technology The PC-based computing facilities are kept up to date and working by a number of computer-literate RSVP members led by Ian James. RSVP member Michael Quinion is responsible for the design and maintenance of this Web site.

Membership Database Records of membership and of the details of each member's projects — ever growing and changing — are maintained on a system designed and maintained by RSVP member Rob Freeman.

Health and Safety Advice and guidance is provided by RSVP member Brian Thompson, who is also the regional contact point for the Criminal Records Bureau and vetting procedures required by law for any member working with children.

Finance RSVP Member Barry Dewhurst installed and maintains the computerised bookkeeping records and is supported by our fully qualified volunteer Regional Treasurer, Nye Thomas.

We’re always looking for additional help in the office, so please contact us if you would like to discuss the possibilities.
