RSVP MEMBERS’ INSURANCE

This is a summary of the insurance cover automatically provided without cost to volunteers who do unpaid work for RSVP West.

Public Liability

Damages arising from accidents occurring at the time the volunteer is acting for RSVP West that result in injury to someone other than the volunteer or damage to property not belonging to RSVP West and for which the volunteer can be held legally liable. Cover up to the value of £1 million.

Employer’s Liability

Cover under the statutory Employer’s Liability insurance taken out by RSVP West against any bodily injury incurred by the volunteer whilst acting in their capacity as volunteer and for which RSVP West could be held legally liable.

Personal Accident

Cover to compensate for injuries or death resulting from an accident (not illness or disease) that occur whilst working as a volunteer regardless of who is responsible. Available to volunteers between the age of 14 and 80. There is now a limited amount of cover for volunteers aged between 80 and 85.

Car Insurance

Not provided by RSVP West. Members should inform their insurance companies if they are using their car for volunteering work, ie providing transport. There should be no increase in premium.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

A unique opportunity has arisen to run the tea bar at Yate magistrates court.
• Volunteers are needed now to expand the care-homes project.
• More organisers are required throughout the region, especially for schools’ and GP surgeries’ schemes.
• Would you like to become a volunteer driver? They’re wanted in Nailsea and Westbury-on-Trym.
• We need schools helpers in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and Bath & North-East Somerset.
